From the Principal

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I am humbled and honored to accept the call to ministry as principal of Assumption Middle and High School.  It is my first priority to preserve the safety and excellent formation of your child with the support of Father Swing (local dean), the Diocesan Office of Catholic Schools, the Wisconsin Rapids administrative team, teachers, and staff of Assumption Catholic Schools.  My next priority is to be visible and available to all and to earn your trust.

As principal of the Catholic school, I remind myself daily that I am a member of Christ’s body (1 Corinthians 12:27) and as an administrator, I follow teachers and parents who are recognized as esteemed representatives of Christ among us (1 Corinthians 12:28).  I believe that the mission of Assumption Middle and High School, namely, to inspire excellence and personal growth in Catholic principles and traditions is a goal that I expect myself and others to accomplish.  I anticipate inspiration to go full circle when you, I, and others watch our students become rooted in Catholic faith and morals at the same time that they are preparing to pursue Catholic vocations and successful careers.

Please feel welcome to visit me at my office in room 101 in the high school.  My phone number is (715) 422-0913.  I can also be reached by email at mgibbons@assumptioncatholicschools.org.  Finally, thank you for your generous and ongoing support of our mission at Assumption Catholic Schools.  May the Lord bless you abundantly!

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Marty Gibbons

Principal of Assumption Middle and High School

From the Principal’s Perch

Assumption Middle and High School is extremely grateful to our Renaissance School of Excellence partners. Our school has been selected to take part in the School of Excellence Program. Only a few schools nationwide have been selected. Program objectives include: 1) increasing guided reading practice, mastering each of four basic math operations, and promoting school-wide writing excellence; 2) building skills needed for college and careers; and 3) maximizing student academic growth. All students in grades 6-12 who submitted signed contracts were given their own NEO2. Ask your children about the NEO2 that they can take back and forth between school and home. I’m sure that they can give you an impressive demonstration of how the NEO2 can help them learn more using cool technology.
We wish all of our athletes success over the next week, starting with tonight’s football game at Owen Withee. Please remember to support the school by participating in the Saturday fundraiser sponsored by Rapids Lincoln Ford entitled, “Drive One 4UR School”. In addition, your presence is appreciated by attending the Sunday OLQH picnic.

On Wednesday, our school celebrated the triumph of the Cross. On Thursday, the Church celebrated our Lady of Sorrows. Pope Benedict XVI said, “The Virgin Mary, who believed in the word of the Lord, did not lose her faith in God when she saw her son rejected, abused, and crucified. She remained beside Jesus, suffering and praying until the end. And she saw the radiant dawn of his resurrection.” I hope and pray that the members of our school and Church will grow in courage and faith. May sorrow be turned into joy!
Mr. Gibbons
MS and HS Principal
